Carine Bijlsma (1983) was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where she completed her highschool, St. Ignatius Gymnasium in 2002. After graduating, she studied photography at Scuola d’arte, Florence, the Photography Academy in Amsterdam and the School of Visual Arts, New York. She graduated in 2008 from the Dutch Film and Television Academy and won the ‘Wildcard’ and the ‘Prince Bernard Documentary’ award with her graduation film ‘The secret of Boccherini’. In 2009 she completed Toonaldders en Tweedeklassers/Middle School Melodies wich aired on Dutch television NPS, uur van de wolf and was shown at the Bergamo filmmeeting Festival in Italy. In 2010 she completed Soloist, Rosanne Philippens 23 years old and it 2011 Extase with Reinbert de Leeuw. Both films where aired by the NTR and shown over several filmfestivals around the world. In 2011 she also completed the documentary 'Never a dull moment', with Louis Andriessen.

Her photographs have been published in the Avantgarde, Groene Amsterdammer, Akkoord Magazine and more. She is the photographer for the posters of the theatre compagnie. She currently works as a director and a photographer.
